A 12 month waiting period applies to obstetric services before benefits are payable.
If your baby is due outside the waiting period, but born inside the waiting period, your obstetrician may be required to provide information relating to the premature birth. This information is provided to an independent medical advisor.
Provided that the independent medical advisor is able to determine that your baby was legitimately due after your 12 month waiting period was served, obstetrics related services will be covered as per your policy as if the baby had actually been born on the expected date (i.e. after 12 month waiting period is served)
