Nowadays, with the rapid development of information technology and the emerging e-commerce, there is an increasing tendency that people choose to do shopping on the internet. This essay will discuss some benefits for online shopping and drawbacks as well. (39)



There are some essential merits for people from different perspective. From the sellers’ perspective, doing online business is conducive for them to cut business operation cost which directly have a positive impact on the business revenue and boosting the sales. Meanwhile, from the individuals’ point of view, as the goods’ cost decreased, they are more likely to buy the same product with lower expense which compare with they buy in real stores. Thus, in the long run, it is beneficial for both the sellers and individuals. (86)



However, there are some demerits for online shopping which can not be ignored. The transaction on the internet is not safe because of the cyber attacks, and the current technology cannot solve this threat to which cannot ensure the online business is absolutely safe. What’s worse, with the cyber attack, there is a high possibility that individuals’ personal and bank information are likely to be revealed to the public even the criminals, which may result in a severe impact on both the sellers and individuals. (84)



In conclusion, from the bright side, the e-commerce has playing an important role in boosting the sales for the vendors and saving money for individuals. However, the safety of online shopping reveals the potential risks and consequences as well. We should encourage this online shopping tend, but in the meantime, we shall keep more effort on secure the transactions as well. (61)
